A big news announcement is coming from the NFL as the Washington franchise, known for Madden 22 coins the last 20 or so months as Washington Football Team in the wake of (finally) getting rid of the Redskins nickname, now has the proper, permanent name - the Washington Commanders that we actually like quite a bit.

What does that leaves us in Madden 22? We have had the WFT for quite a while in the past, so we can expect EA to take a while to make the change and introduce Washington's brand to the gameplay. In all likelihood, it's likely that they only recently discovered it and may have been able to develop the issue for some time in NDA.

It's entirely possible that we will have to wait for Madden 23, but we're hoping that it won't be. EA has not announced anything yet but the clamor from players wanting to know more about what's going on and when the change will occur in-game is going to increase and increase.

Update: Not confirmed at the moment, but Apptrigger reports that they've received confirmation by an EA spokesperson that the Commanders won't arrive at the start of Madden in Madden 23. More on this if it is confirmed. "The Washington Football Team will be updated to the latest Washington Commander nickname, uniforms as well as a logo in Madden NFL 23."

Do fans want to wait for the new Madden game comes out towards the close in the calendar year? This is a unique problem for the publisher since they will certainly want to be as an innovator in the historic shift. We also lost the iconic brand name, John Madden, recently too, so EA may be planning an ode to John Madden with Madden 23 to commemorate this.
