Formula E Canceled at Monas, Infrastructure Uses People's Money to Waste

Jakarta - PDIP DKI Jakarta criticized the decision to cancel the Formula E racing event at Monas, Central Jakarta. PDIP said that the absence of a venue for electric car racing is an ironic thing.
"In fact, the irony is that the DKI Provincial Government holds an activity that costs trillions of rupiah but does not yet know where the race will be located," Deputy Chairman of the PDIP Faction of the DKI DPRD Ima Mahdiah told reporters, Wednesday (6/10/2021).

Ima then questioned the infrastructure that had been prepared to prepare the Monas area as a racing circuit. He said the trial of asphalt installation and the infrastructure that had been made at Monas which cost the people's money had been in vain.

"And how the infrastructure that has been built at Monas uses public money, so it's just wasted," he said.

The member of Commission E of the DKI Jakarta DPRD then touched on those who compared Formula E with the Mandalika circuit. Ima said that the MotoGP event in Mandalika had a clear time and location.

"This is ironic because they are comparing the Formula E race with the Mandalika MotoGP, which is clear when it will be held, where it will be located, and the feasibility study is open," he said.
Therefore, Ima said that PDIP would continue to apply for the right of interpellation, so that the issue of Formula E would become clear.

"We from the PDI-P faction actually want to open this veil by means of the right of interpellation, so that all things that have been covered up will become clear," he said.

Previously, JakPro ensured that the Formula E event would continue. JakPro is currently preparing five venues for the Formula E event.

"The venue, which is clearly not at Monas, is the only clue," said JakPro Director, Gunung Kartiko, to reporters, Wednesday (6/10).
Gunung explained that until now the location of Formula E at Monas was constrained by licensing from the central government. Therefore, JakPro decided to look for another location that still shows the icon of the City of Jakarta.

JakPro has prepared five alternative venues, including the Senayan area and Maju-Bersama Beach. This was revealed by the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.
