BLACKPINK is the (fashion) revolution! Ever since the K-pop group’s debut in 2016, the quartet — Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé — has thrilled fans with their music, their personalities and, of course, their style.

While BLACKPINK’S commitment to fashion has never wavered, the group’s aesthetic has changed and matured throughout their historic, record-breaking career. When they first burst onto the scene with hits like “Whistle” and “Boombayah,” the girls favored bold, punchy streetwear with bright pops of color and cute schoolgirl-leaning ensembles. (Just look, for example, at Jisoo and Lisa pleated skirts or Rosé’s fishnet tee emblazoned with “Beyond the Kawaii” in the “Boombayah” music video.)

In other appearances, the foursome relied heavily on wearing coordinated outfits in matching colors, the tried-and-true method of many a girl group that came before them — from Destiny’s Child and Fifth Harmony to TWICE and TLC.

However, as BLACKPINK’s music reached new heights, so did their sartorial choices. By the time they graced their first Billboard cover in 2019, Rosé, Lisa, Jennie and Jisoo had leveled up their style, rocking high fashion and developing their own styles as individuals. Their groundbreaking appearance at Coachella that April also showed off their elevated onstage looks, wearing coordinated ensembles of black, white and silver encrusted with jewels, glitter, beading and more.

Cut to 2022 and the girls are known as fashion superstars, whether Jisoo’s sitting front row at the Dior show for Paris Fashion Week or Jennie plastered on billboards around the globe modeling for Calvin Klein. Meanwhile, Lisa’s been profiled in CR Fashion Book as Celine’s first global ambassador under creative director Hedi Slimane and Rosé is the face of both Yves Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co.

BLACKPINK showed off their penchant for all black and white ensembles, an aesthetic they’d return to again and again over the career, at the Asia Artist Awards in November 2016.

The girl group displayed colorful — if disparate — looks at the 2017 Golden Disc Awards, while Lisa and Rosé both experimented with blonde locks.

One year into their reign as one of K-pop’s biggest girl groups, BLACKPINK’s red carpet style was already getting more glam, with Jennie stunning in a chic metallic minidress and Rosé rocking a cold-shoulder top and plenty of glitzy jewelry for the 2017 Seoul Music Awards.

The quartet looked grown up with their flowing locks and separate takes on a suble floral theme at the 6th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards in 2017.

The 2017 SBS Gayo Daejeon ‘Battle of the Bands’ took place on Christmas Day, and the idols opted for individual looks — from Jennie’s long black dress to the silver embellishments of unicorns and fireworks on Lisa’s blue mini dress. Plus, Jisoo’s blunt bangs were a moment!

One year later, BLACKPINK returned to the SBS Gayo Daejeon ‘Battle of the Bands’ showing off a new maturity in their style. All four members served elegant red carpet looks tied together with leather accents matching Lisa’s black moto jacket.

For the 2019 Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards, BLACKPINK returned to a black and white theme that ranged from Rose’s angelic all-white ensemble to Jennie’s black jacket and short set with structured white piping.

Jennie, Rosé, Lisa and Jisoo made their U.S. festival debut at Coachella in black, silver and white looks perfectly reflecting the desert heat as they lit up the stage.
