Mesut Ozil: Fenerbahce 'exclude' midfielder for unspecified reason
Fenerbahce have "excluded" Mesut Ozil from their squad for an unspecified reason and amount of time.

In a 26-word statement, the Turkish club announced that action had been taken against German Ozil and fellow midfielder Ozan Tufan.

Ozil is 14 months into a three-and-a-half-year deal with Fenerbahce, having joined from Arsenal last season.

The World Cup winner, 33, has scored eight league goals and captained Fenerbahce this season.

Ozil started their two most recent wins after returning from a six-week injury lay-off to face Trabzonspor on 6 March.

He scored against Alanyaspor before playing 45 minutes of the victory over Konyaspor on Sunday.

The Fenerbahce statement read: "Our Football A-Team players Mesut Ozil and Ozan Tufan have been excluded from the squad as per the decision taken. It is announced to the public."

Fenerbahce are third in Super Lig after 30 games, 13 points behind leaders Trabzonspor and two behind second-placed Konyaspor.

Mesut Özil woes continue as Fenerbahçe drop him from squad
Turkish national Mesut Özil has been suspended indefinitely from Turkish football giants Fenerbahçe for an unspecified reason and amount of time.

In a short statement, the Turkish club announced that action had been taken against the former Arsenal man and fellow midfielder Ozan Tufan.

"Our Football A Team players Mesut Özil and Ozan Tufan have been excluded from the squad as per the decision taken. It is announced to the public," read the statement.

Football.london reported that an altercation between Özil and interim manager Ismail Kartal occurred during the team's 2-1 home win against second-placed Konyaspor, when the midfielder was substituted at half-time.

Ozil started their two most recent wins after returning from a six-week injury lay-off to face Trabzonspor on March 6. He scored against Alanyaspor before playing 45 minutes of the victory over Konyaspor on Sunday.

It is also said that Özil and Tufan will not be allowed to train with the first-team ahead of their away fixture against Kayserispor this weekend.

Trouble at Arsenal
The 33-year-old, signed a three-year-contract with the club, 14 months ago but missed the first eight game of 2022 with a lower back problem. He has however, scored eight league goals and captained Fenerbahçe this season.

Before joining the Turkish side, Özil was one of Arsenal's highest earners, but was left out of their Premier League and Europa League squads before his departure. It's believed Özil didn't see eye to eye with coach Mikel Arteta and his vision for the Gunners.

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga is reported to be earning an annual salary of Sh83 million a year, roughly Sh6.9 million per month at Qatari top flight club Al Duhail.

This information was revealed by former Harambee Stars coach Jacob 'Ghost' Mulee who while speaking in Mountain View school encouraged parents to support their children in realising their dreams.

“Today, I think Michael is the highest-paid player in East and Central Africa. Well, it is not about the money it is about the passion of what you want to do, to the parents support your child in his/her career choice,” the Radio Jambo host said.

Mulee however urged the students to also take education seriously and shared a comical story of how one of his players mistook the word 'hospitality' with 'hostility' while on international duty.

"I remember one of my players in Uganda who was giving a vote of thanks and he said, I want to thank the government of Uganda and the people of Uganda for their hostility,” quipped Mulee.

Generational talent
Ghost is widely credited for the success of Olunga. Through his football academy, Liberty Sports, Mulee groomed and raised Olunga over a period of more than 6 years. Ever since he left Kenya, Olunga has had impressive stints across the globe.

Prior to joining Al Duhail, the towering striker launched his professional career with Swedish outfit If Djurgardens in 2016 then China’s Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng between 2017-2018 and had a six month loan stint to Spanish side, Girona FC.
